What are the benefits of training as an electrician?

The ‘Electrotechnical' industry is diverse and exciting. It offers a guaranteed future, a full career path from school leaver to professional qualifications and good pay. From domestic work to major engineering projects there is a variety of jobs that few others can match. All this and you can earn whilst you learn!

When you train as an apprentice with DCET Training you will receive a free toolbox and tools, a free one day certified First Aid course, a free one day certified Health & Safety course and a reduced cost for the Inspection and Testing qualification after the apprenticeship is complete.

What qualities will I need?
Good practical skills, good problem solving skills, good written and verbal communication skills, good at maths, a head for heights and to be prepared to work in all weathers, the ability to follow plans, drawings and other instructions, willing to work in confined spaces, presentable with a pleasant manner.

How long is the apprenticeship?
The average length of an apprenticeship is 42 months although this time could vary depending on age, previous qualifications and the ability to cover the range of work.

Where does the training take place?
DCET Training have centres in Exeter and Camborne. We operate a day release system (one day per week during term times), the rest of the time is spent in the workplace. All of our lecturers and assessors have themselves worked in the electrical industry so we have a good understanding of life on the tools.

What next?
Complete the application form either in the apprentice brochure or by downloading from www.dcet.co.uk . We will then process your application and contact you with a date for you to attend one of our Training Centres to complete our initial assessment. Providing you are successful we will then give your details to potential employers. They may then contact you for an interview with view to employing you for the full term of your apprenticeship.
