17th Edition Wiring Regulations

The new IEE 17^th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) were published in January 2008.

Any electrical installation since July 1^st 2008 must comply with these regulations. 

The City & Guilds 2382 courses are designed to provide candidates with the knowledge and understanding of the application of the 17^th Edition IEE Regulations. DCET Training has an outstanding record of over 98% first time pass rate in these qualifications. 

There are currently two courses available, the full regulation course (City & Guilds 2382-10) or the update course (City & Guilds 2382-20). Both of these courses cover topics including, objective and fundamental principles, definitions, assessments of general characteristics, protection for safety, selection and erection of equipment, inspection & testing, special installations or locations and appendices. 

Which course do I need to take?

If you have achieved any of the following and can produce a certificate as proof then you will need to attain the 17^th Edition update qualification (2382-20).

• City & Guilds certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671:June 2001 (2381)
• City & Guilds level 3 Certification in Electrotechnical Technology Installation (Building and Structures 2330-07)
• City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology Electrical Maintenance (2330-08)
• City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electrical Installations Part 2 (2360) from January 2004 onwards only).

• The 2351 is now acceptable as an entrance exam for the 2382-20 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (16th to 17th edition update) only if achieved as part of an Electrotechnical Advanced Apprenticeship completed post 1 January 2004.  

If you have not achieved any of the above or cannot produce the certificate then you will need to attain the full qualification (2382-10).
