Who is this course aimed at?
The award is intended for qualified electricians who wish to install grid connected PV systems. Delegates will learn how to explain the benefits to customers and how to install, test and maintain PV equipment. The course includes information on feed in tariffs and any loans available to customers, along with some pointers on developing business in the renewable sector.
By completing this qualification candidates can prove competence for MCS scheme accreditation (subject to scheme-providers terms and conditions).
Entry Requirements
City & Guilds recommend that attendees possess minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations, City & Guilds 2382 (17th Edition Wiring Regulations), and City & Guilds 2391-10 (Inspection, Testing & Certification). Call us to discuss the eligibility of qualifications from other Awarding Bodies.
Course Content
The award is designed to offer delegates specific skills that comply with the Regulations and Code of Conduct related to PV Systems, this being supported by the Department of Trade & Industry. The practical elements of the training will be carried out utilising a 'real' roof in a classroom environment and monitoring the output from PV equipment installed on the Training Centre roof.

Is there an exam?
There is a one and a half hour written assessment comprising twenty short questions and one longer question. There is also a practical assessment based on the installation, commissioning & testing of a domestic PV system.
How long will the course take?
This demanding but exciting course will take 5 days. Various dates are available. Importantly, each course will have a maximum of eight attendees so there is plenty of time for practical work.
What books will I need?
BS7671: 2008 17th Edition Wiring Regulations. Additional materials will be issued during the training.

£795 + VAT for the 5 days, to include all registration and assessment fees. A buffet lunch will be provided each day.
