Lobbying Against the Funding Changes.....

We are honoured that local MP Ben Brashaw made the time to pop in to DCET on Thursday 29th May. Please see our News Article just to the right.....

Plymouth Open Day - Big Changes
Come along and check out our Plymouth Training Centre at our Open Day on Thursday 19th June running from 8am onwards - see the plans for new training rooms, new practical area and new IT suite.
We will have on offer:
• FREE calibration !
• 10% discount on any course bookings made on the day
• Competitions
• FREE tea, coffee & pastries
Our Open Days really are a great opportunity to come in and have a look at our facilities and to meet some of the DCET Team. So if you considering taking on an Apprentice, or becoming an Apprentice, needing to update on any training or find out more information about any of our courses please do pop in - the invitation is open to everyone. Colleagues from our sister company Focus Training will also be on hand to give advice on Business Administration/Management Apprenticeships etc and all other courses they offer, and also funding currently available. We look forward to seeing you there.

Exeter Open Day
Thank you to everybody who attended our Exeter Training Centre Open Day on 27th May. If you weren't able to make it and would like to come in another time then please call the office on 01392 829100.

Roger's Retiring
It is with great sadness that we say farewell to one of our longest standing members of the Team - Roger Beesley.
Roger has certainly put in a few years at DCET - 14 to be precise - and has watched the company grow from just three members of staff to now three training centres. Roger is an extremely well respected lecturer and expert in his field and we will certainly miss his cantanckerous wit! We wish him all the very best for the future and are helping to kick start his retirement with a super staff meal send off.

Update on the Changes
Following the 2011 Lofstedt report, the Health & Safety Executive and the Institute of Engineering Technology have issued new guidance on the inspection and testing of electrical equipment, commonly referred to as PAT testing. Changes include:
• Testing of hired equipment
• Testing of computers and other electronic equipment
• Testing of fixed equipment such as hand dryers and built-in ovens
• New guidance on the frequency of inspection and test, based on risk, rather than fixed periods between tests
The C&G 2377-11 (Level 3 Certificate of Competent Management of Electrical Equipment Maintenance) is an updated qualification which covers all these topics, and is aimed at managers, supervisors, landlords and others who have a responsibility for overseeing PAT testing.
